Thanks for stopping by. My name is Daniel Kresina and I’ve always had a passion for data and analytics. My journey began when I first discovered Excel as a kid and realized I could use it to “automate” solving my math problems without having to write everything out by hand each time. Of course that didn’t last long once my teacher found out, but that initial “Ah ha!” moment stuck with me and pretty soon spreadsheets began to abound.
In college I carefully tracked my study times and created an excel-based prediction tool to estimate the remaining amount of study hours required for each course. -Ok I guess that qualifies me as a geek too.
After completing my bachelor’s degree in Business from Thomas Edison college, I was fortunate enough to land a job at TABS Analytics, a rapidly growing analytics consulting firm in the CPG industry. Almost seven years have past, and I’m still with them, having grown from an analyst position to my current role as VP of Product Development / IT. It’s been an amazing ride, and I love the fact that I get to play with all kinds of data now.
While here at TABS I’ve gotten to build a VBA-based Excel productivity add-in, design our company’s internal MS SQL database for processing high volumes of CPG sales data from all kinds of sources, and just lately I’ve branched into lots of Alteryx development for automating ETL processes. In addition to the technical projects, I’ve been involved in lots of the actual analysis while also completing my MS degree in Business Intelligence from St. Joseph’s University. I think it’s a really exciting time to be working in the growing field of analytics.
Though I find data fascinating, I’m quick to add that it’s not the main priority in my life. I love spending time outdoors and with my family, and most of all getting to know Jesus Christ better each day as I read His word the Bible.
So…that’s a little about me, I hope this blog is helpful to all my fellow data geeks out there!
Feel free to look me up on LinkedIn.
